How a Sign AI dub is made
A sign language dub goes through the same stages as a voice dub: adaptation, casting, performance, and mix. Deaf professionals lead every stage. Here is what happens at each one and where you approve.
The pipeline
Stage 1: Adaptation
Certified Deaf Interpreters translate the script into ASL or BSL. That includes sign order, spatial reference, and the facial grammar that carries tone. Names, slang, and wordplay are adapted for the audience, not spelled out letter by letter. Song lyrics and on-screen text are handled as their own passes.
Stage 2: Casting
We cast Deaf actors for each speaking role and assign each character an avatar. Avatars can reflect a character's appearance, age, and style.
Stage 3: Performance
Deaf actors perform every line, directed by a Director of Artistic Sign Language. The director shapes delivery, emotion, and pacing, the same job a dubbing director does for a voice cast.
Stage 4: Rendering and QC
Performances are rendered as your characters' avatars and placed to your layout. Deaf reviewers check comprehension, sync, and consistency before delivery.

Questions we get asked
How is this different from an interpreter in a window?
An interpreter window shows one person signing for every character. A Sign AI dub casts a Deaf actor for each role and gives each character their own signer, placed and timed like a voice dub.
Which sign languages do you support?
American Sign Language (ASL) and British Sign Language (BSL).
Who makes sure the signing is right?
Our production is Deaf-led from start to finish. Certified Deaf Interpreters adapt every script. Deaf actors perform every role. A Director of Artistic Sign Language directs every title, and Deaf reviewers check comprehension before delivery.
Can avatars look like our actors?
Yes, with the talent's consent and your approval. We follow the likeness terms in your talent agreements. We can also design original avatars that suit each character.
Does this fit our delivery specs?
Yes. We deliver to your frame rate, resolution, file naming, and packaging, including IMF where required. Send your spec sheet and we will confirm fit before we start.
How do you protect pre-release content?
We handle your content to studio security standards. Access is limited to the people working on your title. Files are encrypted in transfer and in storage, and deleted on your schedule. We will complete your vendor security review before work begins.
How is a project priced?
Every project is quoted from its runtime, number of speaking characters, languages, and delivery requirements. Tell us about your title and we will send a quote and timeline.
